Tally is a sensitive, caring twelve year old girl who lives with her father and two aunts in London. She loves being at home and is devastated when, at the cusp of World War II, her father decides to send her to Delderton, a boarding school in the country. But when she arrives, she finds a fascinating world of learning and discovery. The teachers are kind and encouraging and Tally makes friends with many of the other students there.
The adventure really begins, though, when Delderton is invited to visit the country of Bergania. Due to the unfortunate timing of their visit they are drawn into a world of war, danger, and sorrow. The children of Delderton must look past their fear and rise to the occasion.
Pick up a copy to find out what makes Matteo such a great biology teacher; why Tally’s friend Julia won’t act, even though she is so good at it; and what happens to the young prince of Bergania.
